“Why do I always feel tired after lunch?” Echoes through the halls of office buildings everywhere. Folks are simply worn out after eating their afternoon meal. There are three causes for feeling like you are just to tired to handle the rest of the day
What You Eat- a meal that is heavy on the carbs is going to take you out after lunch. Carbs rush into your system and get you going, but that rush is not going to last and when it over be sure be you are going too wiped out. Make lighter lunch choices. Don’t pile the plate too high. The more you eat the more your body needs to conserve energy to digest the food you have piled in. Eat less and ask “why do I always feel tired after lunch?” less.Natural Biology – after noon naps is imprinted upon us genetically through out the ages. During agent times humans slept in the after noon to get out of the heat, during recent times when we were a society of hunter gathers we also slept to get out of the high heat of the day. This is why you will feel sleepy in the afternoon and than get your “second wind” in the evening. It is what our bodies have done for thousands of years, think of it as the appendix of behaviors. It is not really necessary to nap in the afternoons but biologically still present. Not Enough Sleep – You are not getting enough sleep at night, so you wear out during the day!Keep in mind there are many other factors such as Diabetes or irregular blood sugar, food allergies which are extremely common – do you eat wheat and dairy daily? If so and you’re tired every day then its likely a connection to these foods, cut them out and see the difference.
You can control to a certain extent being sleepy in the afternoon so you will not have to ask any longer “why do I always feel tired after lunch?”
